Christine wrote about my online classes: It’s been a lot of fun to share an on-line class with a responsive teacher and an affirming group of amateur artists. I very much appreciated Jane’s clear and concise comments and participants’ enthusiasm and encouragement.

And be sure and check out Danny Gregory’s online Sketchbook Skool. I teach in the ‘Beginnings’ course!

There’s no substitute for learning to draw from real life objects, and that’s how we’ll start out. Jane will teach you her quick and intuitive method to drawing and watercolor. Then each week, a new assignment /suggestion of what to draw, and a new mixed media technique to enhance your illustrated journal entries. Working in a 9×12” (suggested size) journal, you’ll be drawing from real objects every week, designing the page as you draw. You’ll learn to create cool and sometimes meaningful collaged backgrounds to enhance your drawings. You’ll be on your way to loving art journaling!

Everyone has their own drawing style, just like handwriting, and Jane will help you to see and then record what you see on paper. This class welcomes beginners, and all levels including new stuff for returning students.  (Really, even if you haven’t drawn since 3rd grade, Jane can teach you!)

Materials:  Visual Journal for water media 9×12” (I suggest a spiral bound, so pages lay flat);  watercolors, (a travel size kit or PRANG children’s kit); one Niji WaterBrush (round, size medium); pencil; permanent black ink pen (fine or super fine nib Pitt Faber Castell Artist Pen); small pencil sharpener; kneaded rubber eraser; Soft Gel (Matte) or Acrylic Medium (Matte); scissors.

APR 26 – MAY 4     8-NIGHTS ATHENS & AMORGOS     $2995

Sketching and Watercolor in Greece.

The Art Walk invites you to Greece & the Islands.  For 8-12 nights, visit Athens for its history; Mykonos for its white-washed town, beaches, shopping and nightlife; and come to Amorgos, an undiscovered gem, to enjoy this simple, authentic island.

Imagine visiting the world-famous Greek Islands, and with a small, friendly, fun group.  Then add Jane LaFazio’s popular Art Program of sketching and watercolor classes in this incredibly picture-perfect place.  Painting in the shadow of the Acropolis, sketching one of the hundreds of little churches that dot the islands, capturing the windy white-washed streets… there are so many beautiful opportunities to see and paint and experience on our Greek Island program. We begin with two nights at our lovely hotel in Athens, right in the heart of the city.  We’ll have an orientation walk around the Plaka area and Monastiraki to explore this historic and vibrant area.  With a two day pass included for Athen’s Hop On – Hop Off bus, we’ll see all the sights.  On the third day, we head to Piraeus for our ferry ride to the island of Amorgos.  Upon arrival, we’re met and transferred to our beautiful resort and spa hotel.  Your room awaits you, each with a private balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea.  Amorgos is an undiscovered gem of an island with peaceful little towns spilling down the mountains, and an 11th century monastery built right into the side of a cliff.  Join us for sketching and watercolor classes on the hotel’s terrace overlooking the sea.  We’ll have simple morning walks, and full touring of the island including the monastery, and an herbal distillery – one of the main exports of the island.  You’ll have free time to wander the quaint towns, walk down to the beach, and/or relax by the hotel’s pools, enjoy the spa and gym (all included), or treat yourself to the full range of spa services and treatments at our hotel spa.
